or are you trying? One of the biggest challenges for any new exerciser is waking up to do it! Sound familiar?
The plan usually happens like this: Woman says, "I need to exercise and lose weight." Then she will go to the store and buy new workout shoes and outfits. Makes sense right? You need good comfortable workout gear.
First day comes and the alarm is set for…EARLY! Woman wakes up groggy but makes it up to workout. This will probably continue for the first three to five days. After which that alarm becomes a nuisance and this might happen…
There still seems to be this strong belief that people must workout for a minimum of one hour. Furthermore is still the belief that your muscles should hurt after your workout. That pain is in some way the signal that a workout was effective.
But does that really make sense? Should we constantly be in pain because we want to be in good shape? Should our legs constantly fall out from under us as attempt to climb Mt. Stairwell at work? Of course not. However that is not my purpose for todays post. Last post gave you a nice little six minute tabata type workout that you could perform quickly and easily.
Well if you read that post and checked out that video (which you should have) then you seen me mention that I recorded to different quick routines. So I wanted to give you the second one, which has been uploaded as well. This group is even shorter at only 5 minutes and is a serious butt kicker.
Its been a long time since Ive updated this site, and I apologize. My site wasn't working properly and I was getting frustrated. It is no excuse really. I wasn't in hiding for killing fat.
Well I discovered how to fix the more tag, which was giving me tons of problems. The answer to that problem can be found here. But that is neither here nor there.
Things have been going well, my legs are sore as hell from shooting some video. I ran through some quick workouts, under 6 minutes actually. You need to workout and you need to do it fast, there is no excuse anymore.
All you need is a timer, a dumbell or kettlebell, and your body. The first video is ready. Honestly it takes longer to edit and upload the video online then it does to complete the workout. See the Video Now
In class last night I heard a classmate talking about how she was going on vacation for Spring Break and that she is leaving in 7 days. She is going somewhere warm that requires the dreaded…BIKINI! I heard her mentioning that she needs to start running because she only has such a short amount of time left.
I instantly thought about how my boot camp could help her. Since Ramapo College is located in Mahwah NJ, my studio is actually about 6 minutes away in Ramsey. I shortly explained how running will probably not get her where she wants to be. A week isn't much time anyway.
She sent me a message back asking me for help. Boot camp is actually not an option because she doesn't live on campus. Living about 25 minutes away and having to be somewhere at 6am doesn't usually set well for most people, esspecially college students. Anyways she asked what she could do that would help. Here is what I sent her:
How many times have we heard, "To lose weight you need to do 60+ minutes of cardio exercise." To which there is a tag along that says, "Weight lifting is for building muscle."
This is one heavily believed societal norm. People refuse to believe otherwise. But did you know that circuit training can be compared to a brisk walk in terms of heart rate. This depends on intensity rate. You can go higher intensity even and probably feel like you've just sprinted two miles.
If you go to any video site and type in boot camp you'll probably notice that there isn't much cardio exercise being performed. Why is that? Well in this video I'll explain to you.
The other day I was out at the mall picking up some items for my sons birthday party today. As we are walking around at different stores, such as the Disney Store, I noticed something interesting.
For one, the Disney Store doesn't really care alot of stuff. We ordered most stuff online because we had a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed party for Austin. It was a huge success by the way. We purchased a 10ft parachute and a blow up jumper thing. A definite hit.
Anyways I am not talking about childrens toys here. But I am talking about childrens parents. Not that anything bad was happening, but something that made me think. I was in the Disney store when I seen a mom, dad, child, and stroller coming around the shirt rack. But guess how they did? More on Being a strong mom is a must
Have you seen what people are lifting lately? If you're looking around on youtube and other sites you will see some "crazy" stuff. Everywhere you look people are flipping tires, pushing sleds, throwing weight, and lifting kettlebells.
You wanna know why? Simple, the stuff works. If you're still designing your routines based off of body parts, then you need to think again. If you're a general fitness enthusiast (and most of us parents are) then we just want to get in good shape to keep up with our kids and look good for ourselves.
So why are you still doing those same old boring workouts at the gym? Have you been thinking of creating your own home gym but dont have the space or money for a set of barbells and other stuff? Look no further, here is a way to create an unlimited amount of weight for CHEAP! Check it out. More on 4olbs for less than $20
Have you seen the recent ads about high fructose corn syrup circulating television and the internet? The corn industry is hard at work trying to ensure you keep on pumping HFCS into your body like water. Hell they might even add it to a water line soon. Here is one of the videos:
Interesting isn't it? Is HFCS bad for you? Should we consume corn syrup only in moderation? Here is the second commercial available on youtube:
Two days ago I was looking around on Twitter and ran across one amazing video. A video so shocking, so amazing, so eye opening that I couldn't believe it at first. I immediately started thinking about my son and some of things he has eaten, and then I thought about myself.
How could I have eaten such food? Or was it really food? This can't be food, it just can't be. One look at the video and you'll probably agree. And then you'll immediately be upset with yourself or anyone else you may know who is doing this.
The other day I decided to visit Subway for lunch. I highly enjoy Subway and prefer it over any other "fast" food place. Something I noticed there was very interesting. A boy maybe 10 years old walked over to the fountain machine and reloaded his drink. This was as they were leaving.
So what you might be saying? Well the problem I have is that it was the 32oz cup!! So now whether or not he was drinking soda or those "fruit juices" he went for 64oz of liquid cocaine.
To put it into perspective, 8oz of any soda is around 28g sugar. So now if we do the math, 64/8=8 … 28×8=224. So this kid has just consumed 228g of sugar in one sitting. Even further multiplication to determine calories reveals 224×4=896. So this small kid has just consumed 228g of sugar, and 896 calories from one drink.
You can also look at the information that there are 454g in 1 pound. So this means that 1/2 pound of sugar has just been ingested. With rising rates of obesity among our children, should I have approached the parents and gave them one of those "Should of had a V-8" slaps on the forehead?
Warning: These videos will cause you to be a smaller version of yourself. Only enter the information below if you are absolutely sure you are able to part with the extra weight.
